In his meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Surakiat Sathianthai referred to the mutual economic ties between Tehran and Bangkok and called for the Thai oil companies to increase their presence in the Iranian oil industry, Public Relations Department of the Oil Ministry announced.
During the meeting, Sathianthai regarded the presence of Thailand's oil companies in different sectors of the oil industry as important, adding that their scientific and technical expertise were valuable.
Zanganeh, for his part, called Tehran-Bangkok ties outstanding. He asserted that because of the increasing demand for energy in Thailand, Iran can be a good provider of oil for the country’s gas and petrochemical needs," he said.
Zanganeh referred to the rise in production and export of Iranian petrochemicals, and called for upgrading of the countries' commercial cooperation in the petrochemical sectors.
The Iranian oil minister said he hoped his ministry's support and Thailand's increasing global demand for fuel would have a positive effect on bilateral economic and oil ties.
He expressed Iran's readiness to expand relations, particularly in the different sectors of the oil industry.
Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs had traveled to Iran to participate in the 7TH joint Commission of Economic and Trade Cooperation between Iran and Thailand.
